I bought this >> http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4662217 for my iPod nano and on the screen of my iPod it says "FireWire connections are not supported. To transfer songs, connect the USB cable provided." and it won't go away, even after restarting my iPod. How can I make it go away and stay away?

The message you're seeing is because the charger is acting like a Firewire cable (which your nano can be charged from) but your iPod only transfers songs via USB -- not firewire.

To get rid of this message, just unplug you iPod from this charger's Firewire port.

If want to keep using this charger, you'll need to use an iPod USB 2 dock cable ( http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/6444002/wo/LH1rEItwaywh2ZLAvzPQolOEzDC/10.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.3.3 ) and plug into the other port on the charger you bought at WalMart.

The charger that came with your iPod nano has a USB plug instead of a firewire plug... if you were to use it instead, you wouldn't see this message.

If you want to buy the same charger that came with your iPod, here's a link from Apple's store:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/1.RSLID?mco=63413C01&nplm=M9837LL%2FA

Either way, don't worry... iPod should be fine.

I charge my wife's iPod nano via Firewire all the time. We see the same message you're seeing but when the charge is complete, we disconnect it and everything is fine.

Um why would you buy something that isn't apart or associated with the Apple enterprise for something for apple??? Any way The Usb cable that came with the walmart thing is not version 2.0 it is version 1.0 so the Apple can't use the USB cable see if you can upgrade it to a 2.0 or but a 2.0 cable for $20 it should work if not go to the apple store also make sure you are not using the firewall cable to charge your Ipod.

You are using the wrong cable altogether it is saying that because a firewall cable is used to transfer files but you don't want to do that you want to charge it which means you need the charger plug or the USB cable

Best bet is to got the Apple support site (http://www.apple.com/support/) and seek out your particular problem.

BTW - have you contacted either Wal-Mart or the Music Power people for some support?
I think the Music Power people are at this web site: http://www.powerexperts.com/

I don't think it goes away. I think it stays there when your Ipod Nano is connected.

Your Ipod is configured to use FIRE WIRE, you need to check in the settings dialog box and click in USB... If this does not work, return the item.

Looks like you may have to do a hard reset of your iPod?

I hope all of your songs are on your computer.

Good Luck!

You need a professional computer with professional firewall capabilities. If you already have one, sign up at microsoft.com and click on security. Download the live thing.
