like me playing a game on my tv.. without just taping the tv directly.

like the other guy said, instead of running the cables from console to tv, you need to run the cables into the vcr, and then have 'out' cables running from there to the tv. this way, when you push record, it will see what the tv sees, as long as you have those cables in the vcr first.
however, if you wanted to record tv while you played, just hook the cables to the tv from the game system, and the cable/antenna into the vcr
now, all this is assuming that you're talking about VHS recording. i'm not sure about DVRs, but it's probably the same

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking. Do you mean, just running your console through a VCR and hitting the record button? That's all I ever did.

Hook it up to a DVD plyer and press record
