I am going through this very same thing with my 8 month old-it is driving me nuts! The doctor says it is the start of separation anxiety. I can't even walk past the playroom to get a drink in the fridge-if she sees me she starts crying for me and once I pick her up, good luck putting her down. I wish that I could offer you some suggestions, but I hope it helps a bit to know that other Mommys are going through the same thing-let's all pray that it is a very short phase!

That's totally normal. Try a sling or carier so you can get a few things done and keep him happy at the same time.
What I found worked with my high needs baby was to shower him with attention and let him nurse as much as he wanted whenever he wanted and then he'd go play by himself sometimes for up to an hour without whining or bothering me at all. :) He's 16 mo now and this still works for us.

my advice is learn about child development. at 8 months, a child develops separation anxiety. he's finally figured out that you are SEPARATE from him and it's terrifying. his behavior is normal and you are his mother and must give him what he needs - you.
spend 15 minutes every hour on the floor playing with him on his level, following his interests. this is utterly critical to his emotional and intellecutal development. my advice is to give your child what he needs. love him, hug him, don't separate from him more than ten hours a week.

To get some free time try putting him in a swing or jumper in the same room and if that fails wear him in a carrier to free your hands.

That is normal that he will be clingy to you. Don't worry he will out grow it faster than you think.
