A friend told me the Redsox didn't win for a while because they didn't have the money. The truth is they are the 2nd richest team in baseball. They could have brought back Johnny Damon and bought Bobby Abreu from the Phillies but they were to cheap too. I say yes, Boston is out. I think unless their bullpen starts throwing better they won't even make the playoffs. There has been a problem with the starters too. 35 walks by starting pitchers in this series. You can't get swept in a 5 game series and make the Playoffs.

This time Yogi is wrong. Even though the Tigers have blown their 10 1/2 game lead down to 5 1/2, there is no way a team with that bad of a pitching staff can make up 6 1/2 games. Getting swept by you hated rivals AT HOME has to be completely demoralizing. The only player who actually did anything this week was Manny. Not even your so-called MVP Big Papi could do anything. Sure he had 2 homers, but he had nothing other than that. No rally-starters, no heroics, no nothin.
Its definitely over. If they come back, i will have to castrate myself.

The Red Sox are finished. A five game sweep in their own ballpark that is a disgrace. The MVP must go to Jeter. Big Poppy could not lead his team to one win , what a joke. It is not over mathematically , but I have never seen a five game sweep of the Red Sox by the Yankees. The Yankees did not start Damon or Giambi and Rivera did not even pitch.

As far as winning the AL east? Afraid so!
But they still have the wildcard to go after.
Wouldn't this be something? The Red Sox grab the wild card and then beat the Yankees in the AL championship as payback for the series this weekend? HA! That would be funny!

It ain't over 'til it's over! Even though that came out of the mouth of a famous Yankee (the great Yogi Berra), it is true. I think that saying is never more true than when it is said about the Sox. Just when you think they are dead, they resurrect themselves.

They are in line to go home early. They lost a lot of good players to trades etc.I only like one NYY and that's Randy
Johnson, and only because he helped my AZ Diamondbacks win a world series ,other than that I don't like the NYY Boston has always been my American league pick.

Things are not looking good. It look like the Mets will have to beat the Yankees this year.

It is still possible for the Red Sox to make the playoffs. However, it is impossible for them not to be gaywads.
