Hi I'm a teen from boston and I'm a local hip hop artist. I just started recording but it only just hit me that my recording equipment sucked. I was using the material that blocks the wind from my old head phones and had to hold it up in front of my mouth when recording with my extremely cheap and sucky mic. My question is, where would be a good place to buy a good quallity microphone and so called "wine blocker" for recording music?

Here's a great tip. I made my own pop filter.

Get an old wire coat hanger and bend half of it into a circle. Bend the other half in a way it can hook on a mic or mic stand (You may need some pliers). Get some ladies stockings and put them over the circle. Hey presto. Your own pop filter. I saw these used in pro-Studios and they work better than commercial ones. Plus you can make them any size you like. One last tip. make sure there is at leas half an inch gap between the filter and mic.

Try Guitar Center - they are owned by Musician's Friend so they have a lot of the same inventory. They have some of the best equipment you're going to find in any retail store, they have a lot of good quality mics in all price ranges.

Be sure not to get the cheapest stuff they have or you'll recordings will still be bad.
