ummm... it really depends on what you want to do with it, its it for games, homework, Internet surfing, doing business related activities like spreadsheets, databases, programming of new applications to suite your business needs.

But, HP or a Compaq might suite you well, they are well rounded machines built for everyday family in home situations, and cost only $300-$500. They are not overly fast (only have 256MB RAM) but are fun to play with (tweaking) and upgrade nicely, and are perfect for those who don't know much.

Hint: when you go to the store or on-line and going to get a computer, know what you want and what you are using the computer for. Do this to avoid getting a computer that will not suite your needs or will kill your bank account

Dell has reached a point where it's almost pointless to try to build one even if you know what you're doing. They keep their prices so low there's very little benefit.

Hardware these days has reached a point where if you're a beginner and don't have specific needs, you can pretty much buy any computer they have to offer. Go find one with a screen you like, and keep everything else as cheap as you feel like spending. You'll be fine.

DELL - easy to use, not complicated, it's a Compaq, good use of your money, not expensive, step by step instructions on most things, awesome computer! Macs could go away at any time. They're not stable enough economically and most assignments you'll have to do are universally done on a Comaq. Was that confusing? If so, e-mail me! Apple only has less viruses b/c there are less ppl using Apple computers. DUH! FYI - Save all documents to disks. The computer could crash at any time and if you've got all your documents save to disk, it'll be much easier to restore the computer. Never buy a computer that's not a name brand. They mess up too easily and don't last long at all. PEACE.

If you have never used computers regularly before, Macs are the easiest to learn. However, if you have used PC's before, stick with PC's because switching between them can drive a person crazy. Most schools use Macs, but most businesses use PCs.
PC's are cheaper and Dell's are a good brand, many of my friends have them.

depends on what you want to do. If you want to video edit then I suggest you look at the specs for the non-linear video editing software and build a computer to those specs. If you want to use Word, Excel and surf the net, then get whats cheapest. Any new computer can handle that work load.

If it's your first computer just get some cheapie no name brand but make sure to get a warranty from wherever you buy it. Why spend money on a computer that you might fry? I did that with my son and he did ok. Once he knew his way around it he got a nice one.

Dell or Intel, they're pretty basic.

Although Apple computers are better than Dell they're definitely more for expereinced people since they're a bit more technical and stuff. But either one's good but Apple has the better anti-virus ect. stuff.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy one there. they are cheaper and seem to last. Keep all your receipts and maybe buy the entended warranty, you never know when you may get a lemon. Then when you know your operateing system, buy one of the self help book, also available at Wal-Mart. Try to find a helpful salesperson while you are there too.

It depends for what you want to use it. For example, if it is just for basic needs, and you want to use Microsoft Word, Excel or internet. You can get computer as low as $500.00. You can go to dell.com or several computer sellers online. You can even check out at your local store Bestbuy, compusa, circuit city.
