I hated the book "Misery" but loved the movie. Your choice is excellent tho. The book scared the crap out of me and the movie did turn out pretty decent. I thought the mini series of "The Stand" wasn't bad considering all the material they had to work with. It would have been hard to bring all of the detail of that book into a movie--especially for TV.

that's the problem with all Stephen kings movies they rock right up until the end. the green mile had an ok ending.
IT was a good movie the first half. the stand was good until the end. the special he had on TNT recently all those shows ended bad.his book are the same way Gerald's game was by far my fav book but the ending was WAY out there. Christine was a good book the movie sucked.
so i really don't know. all his movies were good and the only one i have not seen and want too is the long walk.
it will prob end just as bad. you just come to expect his movies to end bad but watch them anyways because we all love him..

Having browsed the answers to your question I'm surprised to find that there are quite a few that are good... I like Carrie, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Stand, Misery...
My hubbie likesThe Shining, but that film freaks me out... I liked IT when I was younger but the end monster is shite!

I agree with Cattlemanbob. No one knows how to make a Stephen King movie. It's much better to read his novels. Still I liked Red Rose, The shining with Jack Nicholson and Salem's lot.

The Shining was by far the best.

but I also think they did a decent job with The Stand, IT could have been great, but there was no way they could visualize the turtle, and the big monster was way lame.

remembering from my childhood, Children of the Corn and Salem's Lot scared the crap out of me, don't know if they were really any good to an adult, but they spooked me.

I think its really difficult to do justice to his books by turning them into films or mini series. When you read a book, you build up images of what the characters are like, the scenery etc. When it gets transferred to the screen something gets lost.
That said, I think the Shining was reasonable, The Stand was pretty good, but 'Salems Lot and Carrie and Pet Cemetery missed something.

Hmm. My favorite Stephen King movie is The Shining. Although it really does stray from the novel.
I think the best SK movie that stays closest to his story is Stand by Me.

Pet Semetary. Still have not been able to watch film completely. I can freak my husband out just by placing the actual book on his pillow at night, also the Stand, especially casting Gary Sinise and Molly Ringwald in 2 of the main roles.
