Well I'm young still so I know. (High School) La,la,la can mean many things. It could me I'm ignoring you, bored and humming, or like the other person said it could be a song. Just ask and see what different answers you'll get.

I think you are talking about people saying "la la la la la" repeatedly. It means "I'm not listening".

The first time I remember encountering it was Billy Crystal in "Princess Bride" as Miracle Max.

Well, I know that 'la' was a word which young people in the olden days used as an exclamation. However, it was only used by the not-so-well learned.

In Malaysia, most sentences end in 'la'. As I understand it, it doesnt mean anything much.....maybe they're trying to give their conversations a 'sing-song' feel....:D

Or they could also be referring to an episode of Seinfeld. "la, la, la" you would have to had seen it to understand it.
