thousand of horses are slaughter over here in America and shipped to Europe and Japan to be eaten for very high prices. The horses being killed there is nothing wrong w/ them. Most are just non winning race horses!

it is true most of these horses have nothing wrong with them but you are mistaken about it being mainly non-winning racehorses,there are also PMU mares and foals,and horses that the dealers are too impatient to sell to good homes and can get fast cash for them at slaughter auctions,also a lot of older retired show horses or family horses end up there,it is very sad when i was going through a rough financial time a beautiful Morab stallion i owned but couldn't afford to keep ended up slaughtered because i was an idiot and sold him to a dealer,he was only 9 years old in perfect health,wonderfully trained in western pleasure and the kindest horse ever but the dealer didn't want to "mess" with a stallion so shipped him 2 days after he was bought from me when i found out,the dealer told me did me a "favor" by purchasing the stallion from me and shipping an unwanted horse to slaughter.....so i am not a big fan of horses being slaughtered i hate the dealer who sent him there,and i would never EVER eat horse meat even if i was starving to death

O.K, that's fine. I'm not sure if I believe it, but really, what seperates a horse from a cow? I'll tell ya': Disney movies. The only reason we don't eat horses is because they have been bestowed with special importance by movies for little girls, and the fact that, like a dog, they appeal to our emotions. I'd eat horse meat, I think, though it might take some getting used to.

I've seen stuff like that in old movies where families were starving in winter and had to kill their horse to keep from starving, but had no idea it was happening today for no reason other than profit. But, again, we kill cows and pigs and doves, etc. for the same reason and there is nothing wrong with those animals either. I wouldn't eat a horse, but who am I to say what people can and cannot eat. I don't like the idea, but there is nothing we can do about it in the long run.

As long as we LIKE eating meat, SOME kind of animal is GOING to the slaughterhouse. So YOU don't think it should be horses; some people don't think it should be pigs- or cows- or rats- or dogs- or some OTHER socially "unacceptable" animal... The problem IS, we eat meat. And until we ALL become vegetarians or live on man-created substitute foods, -horse flesh will be as fair game- as anything else. It's NOT fair...-It's life.

well... you can't eat a horse... but how about that poor cow that you ate... or that poor piglet... can you look in their eyes and eat them after? Would you eat a rabbit? he's SO cute...
in wild life no one cares if your a horse, cat, dog, rabbit, cow or anything your just food!
it seems cruel but a horse is like a cow only that he race...
find out that the cat it's a very good meal in some places like Asia...
sometimes is hard to eat meat of any kind...

I dont feel any different about eating a horse as i do eating a cow.I would expect the meat to be very tough though.

Ummm....if you look at this way, I and millions of women out there intake horse pee...ever hear of premarin? Animals were put here to feed the humans! And if a Jap or someone else wants to eat horse so be it...nasty but their choice.

I heard that ranglers would steal a horse and sell it to a slaugter house. By my bus stop there are horses(5) that are so cute including babies (2).

I might try it if given the opportunity. They say it's good.
There's nothing wrong with any of the cows, pigs or chickens slaughtered for food either. Such is the nature of meat.
Recognize your hypocrisy. Either become a vegan or find something else to be outraged about.

I think it is horrible!! I have nothing against people in other country's eating horse but why do we have to be the ones to supply it to them? I think all slaughter houses in the US should be shut down!!
