If you install that birth control thing in your vagina ( I think it's called Mirena) for 5 years, can you remove it before the 5 years are up or do you need to keep it in there for 5 years?

No, you don't need to wait the whole five years.
you can take it out whenever you want. Of course not you, the doctor.
I had one after my first child, and when I wanted to get pregnant again the doctor took it out.

I think its the best birth control. I know that the pill is 99% safe, but with it you take too much hormones, not only that, you might forget to take one. With the IUD - you don't have to think about the subject at all!!!

It can be removed whenever you wish, and it is actually inserted up the cervix and placed in your uterus. It is very easy to remove, but must be done by a nurse or doctor. If you want, you will be able to get pregnant as soon as you ovulate next. It does not interfere with pregnancy as soon as it is removed.

I had it removed after like 2 years. It was fine. Totally reversable.

You may have it removed any time you would like.
Just ask your ob/gyn.
The 5 years is the max time you should have it in.
