I'm all for people expressing themselves, but emails that solicit sex, or threat of harm? LEAVE ME ALONE SHIRAZ! I'd really like to know when free speech is at the expense of someone's rights to feel safe and secure, is it still a right?

you are in an unusual position because your actions here are considered public and you have an open e-mail you can be contacted by anyone .
FREE speech ends when it is considered prophany hate or incitment to riot or may cause harm and injury like yelling fire in a movie house when there is non ..
In order to be secure your address and whereabouts are not made directly available to the people on yahoo .This should be some messure of privacy and security .
IF this is not enough and ou still feel threatened you can go to a court and seek a temporary injunction against the person who is threatening you .
A judge will then determine what can be done ..
I have the feeling your option is limited to ignoring this idiot and not to worrie i have not heard yet of the internet stocker who went to someones home .

It crosses the line when it incites illegal violence, or is intended or likely to cause an immediate violent response in the listener (fighting words), or when it is intended to cause emotional harm or fear in the listener (true threats).

These are unprotected categories of speech, not entitled to 1st Amendment protections under current US Supreme Court interpretation.

When applied to a private message system like Yahoo, constitutional protections are secondary to Yahoo's own posted privacy policies and terms of use. For example, under the Yahoo terms of service, everyone here has agreed to:

"Not use the Service to ... upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;"

How many time a day do you think that one gets violated? But Yahoo relies on the efforts of other members of the community to make them aware of content that violates their policies.

when you feel threatened...if this is someone on here first block their email address, second contact yahoo, if it continues take copies of all the correspondence this person has sent you to your local police department or call them in advance and ask them what you can do...this is not free speech it is harassment and it could be dangerous to you.

I think when you get an email that falls short of edifying the recipient. People here take it too far, i too have gotten hate emails.

When you are bombarded by people claiming that what you believe in is wrong, and when they start yelling at you because of it. My friends mother was berating me for my conservative ideology, so I would call that harassment.
