Yes! I would love it if there was a Democrat like that! I usually vote Republican, but a Democrat like the one you described more closely aligns with what I really believe in

I am not a single issue voter, and yes, I could vote for one! I wouldn't like it! I can see no anti-abortion candidate running as the representative of the Democratic party! And stop with the pro life BS! You are for the death penalty and for getting kids killed in Iraq over oil! You aren't pro-life at all!

Why are people such Homophobes and want to make someone else have a baby then ***** about them for 20 years as being lazy and on welfare! What would you do at 16 or 17? And no, they are not baby factories for the rich! Why don't the rich adopt thousands of unwanted children that are older?

You've got it backward. The support of the war in Iraq is not so much conservative at this point, but entrenched. Tony Blair is no conservative! Wars are complicated. We will have difficulty in gauging conservatism and liberalism by support for a particualr war. Wars are complex issues. It is a truer measure of liberalism that a person does not like deliberately oppressive domestic policies (although I would agree that violence and oppression, as a matter of policy, is generally more agreeable to the conservative). A "liberal", for example, will tend to support the continuation and guarantee of financial help from government agencies for poor single women with children. A conservative will (generally) support restrictions on a woman's access to abortion - ultimately because he does not trust that the pregnant woman or girl can make an appropriate decision. The essential difference between conservative and liberal can be summarized thusly: Conservatives have a relatively (relative to "liberal") negative view of human nature; liberals have a relatively positive view of human nature.

I vote based upon issues, not parties.

I do not know what you mean by Democrat on the economy. Currently, the Republicans in office are spending more than every Democrat in history. This is the Republican sterotype of "democrat" behavior.

I would vote for someone who is:

Pro-"keep-gov't-away-from-my-body" (abortion, Terry Schiavo, etc)

Pro-science (support stem cell research, support alternative energy, etc.)

Pro-fiscal conservative (pay as you go, if you don't have the money in your checkbook you have 2 options, 1) save money, or 2) raise more money)

Pro-separation of church & state (gov't shouldn't control marriage, civil unions, faith-based efforts should get funding for secular efforts)

Pro-federal education goals (all kids across the country should have the exact same opportunities)

Anti-Revenge (The death penalty prevents no crime, it is only gov't sanctioned revenge)

*** If you find me a candidate the espouses these goals, I don't care if they call themself a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, etc.) ***

Since I do not think that the government should play any role in my moral life, no I would not vote for a conservative democrat under those conditions. I would vote for a liberal repuglican that held the same values as I do. I think that people should be free of oppression in a free country and I would not like to involve the government when I get my kink on.

The only things conservative about your Democrat you described is pro-life and anti-gay. Sounds like a liberal in disguise to me.

I would vote for a conservative Democrat, but not a would-be member of the moral police.

No. I couldn't care less about the moral part. I would only vote for a democrat if they behaved like a conservative in regards to war conduct.

I try not to identify too closely with either party.

I have voted Democrat, Republican and third party - for President, and for other offices.

I just look at the choices in each race and make the best pick.
