I do: 2 dogs, 3 cats and 3 parakeets.

With regard to hamster, you need plenty of aspen shavings and room for the little guy to have a special area to use for loo purposes. They will be cleaner if they have a little more space. Also, plan to clean cage at the very least once a week. Don't leave decaying fruits and veggies in there either.

"Regular cleaning of a hamster's home is crucial for the hamster's health. The home must be cleaned at least once a week by replacing the soiled bedding where necessary. Hamsters are fairly neat in their bathroom habits if their enclosure is regularly cleaned. They choose one small location in which to urinate and defecate, making cleaning simple. The cages of dwarf hamsters may require slightly less-frequent cleaning (perhaps once every two weeks), and may have many (usually hidden) places used as toilets."

i have 8 adult dogs 5 newborn(today) puppies ,7 cats,5 rabbits,4 horses,5 chickens, and four geese all of these are family pets and very much loved even my chickens and geese are petted and cuddled daily
you need to keep your hamsters cage clean, dont let the urine or feces build up,if it's cage smells then it will smell, you should use sweet smelling shavings,i like cedar though some say it isn't good for bedding,it has never bothered any of my critters, but pine shavings do just as well
you can give your hamster a bath if needed, but you must make sure to use a mild shampoo, johnsons baby shampoo works well and has no tear formula,be very careful not to get water into its little nose, and be sure to dry it completely and put it's cage in a warm place over night so it doesn't catch pneumonia
there are also deoderizing sprays you can spray directly onto your hamster and in it's cage but i dont trust these i dont think chemicals in cages are good for them as they do so much digging around and chewing in the cage

Let's see... we can go in size order I guess...

3 Goldfish (Guinny, Killy, and Obby)
6 Cats (Ishmael, Ra, Anubis, Isis, Cleo, and Ramses)
1 Dog (Spice)
3 Horses (Hollywood, Lakota, Tuff)

As for the hamster... make sure you keep his cage as clean as possible. Only recycle the shavings that are dry and clean, don't try to sift through the damp ones. Spread a thick layer of the fresh cedar chips whenever you do a cleaning. I don't know about hamsters, but I know when we used to pet sit our friends ferrets they loved taking baths. You can probably do a google search for hamster bathing. Good luck!

Make sure the hamster has a lot of water... their urine smells if they are not hydrated...

I have 2 hamsters. I wash their cages once a week and sometimes, in summer time, twice a week.

Use sawdust for its home.
In wildlife hamsters change their homes when they start to smell.
They are very clean creatures but they need a bit of help... wash the cage its the easiest way!

( i have 2 hamsters...2 cats... 1dog... 14 fish)

Ok..ready for this?
2 Shire horses, Buddy and Belle
1 draft/quarter horse cross, Rosie
1 German Shepherd, Kaiser
1 Black cat, Hal
1 Blue/Gold Macaw, Andre
1 Mexican Double yellow head, Charlie
1 African Grey, Roscoe
1 Quaker parrot, Budda
2 Cockatoos, Gypsy and Jazman
50 chickens- of which I could not name all of them- but I consider them pets because we don't slaughter them
7 Guineas -yard patrol
UH! no more fish...we never filled the tank again after they kicked it...
Well- hamster ideas...if you have it in an aquarium- get into a cage..and clean it every day..it sucks but it helps. You could also bathe the little beastie sometimes..doesn't hurt him..just don't make the water too hot or cold.
I have too many creatures..I could open a petting zoo. Thank goodness I live on a farm...

7 cats
3 Guinea Pigs
7 birds (1 dove, 4 budgies, 2 finch)
4 fish

Hamster care is easy...use Carefresh for the bedding. GIve her lots of fresh water (change the water in the bottle every day). When you clean the cage...take it apart and use a little bleach and lots of hot water to clean all the parts, rinse well, dry and put in new bedding.

Most important...don't overbathe your furry critter. Once amonth is more than enough (unless there are mites or such). Too much bathing irrates their skin.

I have 2 dogs, a turtle, 2 rabbits, 2 hammy, and 4 fish

I use baking soda under the newspaper under the litter. it soaks up the urine smell. also every other week i use hydrogen peroxide on the cage botom, and use rubbing alcohol on it, it only takes a few minute extra. I have a zoo in my house. you also can teach them to go in a liter box, rodents like to pee in one corner, so put a smal plstic orner liter can in the cage and the hammy will pee there, same with my rabbits.

umm i have 9 pets (1 dog, 2 cats, 6 turtles). i took care of my friends hamsters once and the only thing i can tell you is to clean their poop and bedding as often as you can, she also gave them baths once a week with very mild soap, make sure not to wet their head and make sure there are no drafts so he doesn't catch a cold. good luck!
