Was Dirk Koetter's decision the right one?

Question

Dirk originally named ASU Senior QB Sam Keller the starter two days ago. Now, in an abrupt change and after a meeting with the players, suddenly switched to Soph. QB Rudy Carpenter, a favorite of the team.

Did Dirk make the right decision, or has he set back ASU recruiting to the 1950s? Would Frank Kush ever do this? I don't think so!

Right decision, but wrong in execution. If he was not 100% sure it was the right choice, he should have waited or consulted with a few of the teams captains before the decision was made. As an ASU alumni and season ticket holder, I think that Rudy is the right choice and has more upside than Keller (lost us the USC game last year). I do however believe that Kush would not have done this, but then again, he may have been too stubborn to change his mind. I think that it is better for our football team to have the right guy in there and win ball games than it is to worry about how we look to recruits. After all, following one trip to campus and seeing all of the beautiful ASU women prancing down palm walk is summer attire, the recruits will always be there.

There is more to this story than is being let out. Some concerns about his off the field lifestyle came out from other players and although Koetter was aware, he stuck with the loyalty. Carpenter is the right pick but I agree, Koetter has to start doing a better job on the PR side if he wants to stop looking silly and start getting top recruits outside of QB.

The answer will be clear about the 3rd of December - the end of the season.

If it is the right deciscion will have ASU in a top tier bowl game.
If it is the wrong deciscion, the program may fall apart this season.
