Be safe and have a pro come out and do it.If you have to much tension on it you can get badly hurt..

Torsion springs are very dangerous to install. You have to know what you are doing. If you've never done it before, hire a professional. I've done it but I have had a lot of experience in maintenance and even then I was very nervous, but careful. If you lose you grip while tightening them you could get hurt badly. There has to be just enough tension to assist in opening the door and keeping it up without falling from it's own weight.

u have to take 1/2" piece of pipe or size that fits the holes at the end of the spring.insert the pipe, loosen the bolt on the end and using another pipe, "walk" the spring ends toward u, one pipe until it hits the header and then the other.....slide spring out and repeat in reverse order

The safest way is to hire a professional to come in and fix it that way they take all the risk.
