Try to look at the stamp that most jewelry has on it. If you see a 925 anywhere on the inside or near the clasp, then it is pure sterling silver. Silver is very soft and needs a lot of care to keep it looking good. If it is flaking it could mean that it is just silver plated. Hope this helps.

It's not silver. Silver gets tarnished with a greyish black film. Flaking a bubbling is not silver. I hope you didn't pay a lot for it. It could be silver plated over some other metal like copper. I would take it back to the person you bought it from. OMG! I'll bet some lying boyfriend or husband gave it to you!

It sounds like a fake. Take it back to the store you bought it and ask them. Real sterling silver never flakes because it is a solid metal.

If the silver is flaking or bubbling, I'm afraid it isn't real silver. It's only a silver-toned coating over a base metal. I hope you didn't spend THAT much.

the only constructive attempt to establish if your bracelet is silver is to take a small drop of acid from a motor vehicle battery with an eye fixed dropper. I woulde drop the acid on the returned of the bracelet. no be counted if it fairly is not any longer silver it is going to bubble and turn green

FLAKING?! Uh yea, it's fake. Silver is a metal, it is not coated to look silver. You bought a cheap piece of jewelry with a plating

I'm sorry... I don't think it's real silver. I hope you didn't pay too much for it! It sounds like the silver was paint.
