The selection of judges is one of the most important tasks in a democracy. Should it be done by the president or by a team of experts? Who should be a member of such a commission and how should they themselves be chosen?

Interesting idea. It would require amending the constitution, but let's assume that could happen.

The trick is finding a commission that is accountable to the American people for their choices, while still being sufficiently independent that their choices are not politically motivated. The second is the hard part, because there are very few people who have strong ideals that do not end up being politically motivated.

I'm going to assume that by "bi-partisan" you didn't just mean limited to the current two political parties, but rather meant "non-partisan".

No I think the Prez should choose the judges. I don't like it when the Dems are in power and choose them but that is why as a country we must pay attention and vote. Nope no rule changes for me even when I don't like the results.

It should be an elected office, the same as all the rest. They get too complacent in their post, making them detached from those that they are to serve, and instead serve the highest bidder.
