I'm collecting bugs for a school project, and I cant seem to find a few bugs on the internet's classification and order. Does anyone know of a good online field guide for bufgs common to north america or the mid west? Better yet, i have one bug which is black and the body about an inch long. It has long thin antennas and a thin tail about a cm. If anyone has any info reguarding ANY bugs or insects, please help!!!! thanks!

I recently looked for some good info on insect classification on the Internet and couldn't find some that was decent. My nephew is working on insect collecting and I want to help him but I ended up getting out my textbook I used for an entomology class I took at the University. You need a book to key out your insects if you can't immediately see what order it goes in. What you describe I can only guess without a picture or inspecting it is that it may be a beetle and they are in the Coleoptera Order.
