In 500 years who will care? Yes it's good to remember the mistakes of the past to make sure we don't repeat them but do we have to keep ever single bit of land with a special significance to someone sacred for all time? But if you really don't want people to use the property then talk to the zoning board or the city councle.

The simplest thing to do would be to buy it. If it's privately owned, the city will probably face a legal battle to try to protect it unless they use eminent domain and pay the owners a fair market price.

This is what we can do. the things we want to remember take pictures, videos, and we can make sure it's in history books. Let's us not sweat the small stuff, life is to short let's enjoy the changes. they are going to come regardless. What do you think our ancestors would think, if they could see you on your computer sending this question to people around the world.
