I like the rugged look myself but not slobby just rugged clean looking but rugged.

Nicely cut pair of jeans or cut off combat style trousers. A t shirt but not too baggy and shapeless preferably something a little fitted or even a shortsleeved shirt. Now, footwear, i reckon either some casual trainers (not the really sporty type) or some nice sturdy boots.
Then again, it does depend on your age, body shape and lifestyle and of course there's a difference between casual and smarter wear too.

First your clothes gotta be clean. lol Don't do the smell test. Other than that...it depends on you and your look (body type, hair, etc). There are too many styles. Confidence is really what you should wear.
My guy...jeans from Anchor Blue, nice button up long sleeve shirt preferably Quiksilver, and black boots. Thats just me though

I like my men to look smart casual with a bit funky.
However, the outer wrapping is not gonna get you far if the inside is not full of goodies - like being kind, clever, genuine, thoughful, honest and a whole host of other things!!!

Preppy sexy. Baggy (but not too baggy) faded jeans or khaki cargo shorts, and cute (somewhat fitted but not feminine) t-shirts (try Urban Outfitters), or polos from American Eagle or Ralph Lauren. Also, a sexy "surfer-boy" necklace. Longish hair, and sneakers or flip-flops (try Newbalance and Rainbows). That's how my boyfriend dresses, and oh my, is it hot! Good luck!

It all depends upon his age and what he's doing. In the case of my husband, I like him to be clean shaven and neatly trimmed. The blue jeans and t-shirt look is okay unless we're going someplace where it's inappropriate. Then he wears khakis and shirt, or suit and tie.
