Rubbing your skin with a terry cloth towel is bound to cause minor exfoliation... which means that you will have small dead skin cells that have transfered to your towel.

On top of that, damp areas foster germ, bacteria and mold growth.

Lastly, whether anyone cares to admit it or not, from time to time SOME sort of bodily fluid might get on the towel.

These things will cause a towel to eventually be unsanitary for use. Now, some are germ phobes and some are conservationists who believe in conserving resources... either way, you'll find your niche regarding how many times you feel it's necessary to wash your towel... as long as you wash it. :)

We wash towels because just washing our body does not necessarily clean it completely. We also use the towels to dry our hands. When was the last time you so thoroughly cleaned your hands that no dirt was left on the towel? Just think of the opposite. If you never washed your towel, do you think you would like to dry yourself with that stinky thing? That is why we wash towels and bed sheets.

Well, I use mine a few times before I wash them, but after the water is on the towel and it is used a few times it starts to smell a bit. So, that is why......lol. I see your point tho.

We wash them for the same reason we wash dirty dishes, even though we know they are just going to get messed up again!
Bacteria, dead skin cells, wiping your crack, stinky towel, these are some good reasons for washing bath towels.

Are you really clean when you get out of the shower or tub? Is the area where the towel was laying prior to you using it, really clean?

Simple..cuz they reek of water n moisture since they don't get a chance to dry completely between showers..I reuse my towel every day for 3 days then when it starts to reek it gets washed.

Because they get wet

If you put away wet or something that isnt really dry it tends to stink, besides even if youre washed you still have to pass it through your private parts

Because they are exfoliators: they knock off the dead skin that is softened from the bath / shower. Eeeww!
