Ok here is how to do it:
1. Go on www.yahoo.com or login.yahoo.com
2. You should log in if you have got an account
3. Then click on yahoo mail which should be on the top right or
left handside
4. Click on it and it will take it to your mailbox
5. Right on the top next to where it says how many unread
messages you have got there is some kind of rectangle with
a grey picture on which is your avatar
6. Click on it . At the top there are some icons such as home
appearance and so. To choose the face that matches yours
need to click on apearance, for the clothes click on apparel
and so.
7. After you have finished go on save and do so.
8. If you want to make few you can save it and add to your
favourites so you can use it whenever you like.

You have to create a Yahoo avatar (you can find a link for that on Yahoo!'s website. Or, if you want a real picture (not a cartoony head) make a Yahoo 360! account and upload a picture. Then you edit your preferences and pick your picture.

click on your yahoo id. It will take you to another page that talks about you. click on edit my info. on this page you should see a radio button for avatar under the picture category. click on the link associated with that radio button. Then it should be self-explanatory. you can create a female or male with jsut about whatever you can think of

Go to your profile settings and choose your avatar from your e-mail account. You can modify your avatar from your e-mail account anytime you like. Have fun and dont take things to seriously here. That's the best advice I can give.

Click on your name, then Edit Info, then Use Yahoo Avatar. You can then compose your picture.

Click on the number by your name (on the left hand side), then click "Edit my profile", there you will see how to make an Avatar

Click on your name and pic in the top left hand corner. Select "edit my info" , then select "Edit my Yahoo! avatar", from there you can make a pic, using hair styles, clothes, skin colour, background etc.
