A woman should never douche. That upsets the PH balance of your vaginal area. You are more likely to get infections. Your vagina cleanses itself all the time. As long as you bathe daily, there isnt a need to douche.

Actually - none.
Douching actually can be more harmful then good. The products are is marketed and available because at one time (obviously still) women were made to feel that their privates were unclean. This is simply not true. The female reporoductive system is an amazing machine, thank you very much. There is a very lovely balance of bacteria, and when something else gets introduced up into the vagina (clorinated water, douche, soap, sand, dirt) it can cause irritation and either a yeast infection or something called gardnerella. Both are really uncomfortable.
If you feel like you are not clean down there, have a bath. Perhaps a shower.

Most medical professionals will tell you not to do this because it affects the natural bacteria in your body. That natural bacteria is actually beneficial since it wards off harmful bacteria that can cause infections. If you feel you absolutely cannot stay away from douching, then avoid the perfume ones which add harmful chemicals into the vagina.
I had a hysterectomy so my situation is different. Because my body does not cleanse itself monthly, I'm supposed to use a vinegar and water douche. The vinegar and water douche, they recommend only to be used every other week, depending upon how active my husband and I are in bed.

You shouldn't do it at all unless directed by your doctor. The vagina is self cleansing and douching can change that and cause all sorts of problems. Ask your gyn about it and if you feel the need to douch, as him/her what the best brand would be.

Never, honey. Your body doesn't need an artificial "cleansing." If you are healthy, you will have a normal amount of discharge, which is nature's way of keeping your internal organs clean. If you are having discharge that concerns you, then GO TO A DOCTOR. You may have an infection of some sort. They are easily treatable. Avoid public hot tubs as they can lead to infections of both the vagina and bladder. I am a 51 year old mother with a TON of experience in these topics.

You shouldn't. Your body produces natural anti-bacterials that keep you from getting infections. You wash those away by douching. It leaves you not only prone to urinary tract/bladder infections and yeast infections, but it makes your body more vulnerable to STDs. Your gynecologist will tell you its a very bad idea.
Simply wash thorougly in the shower with soap and warm water. That is quite sufficient to keep you clean. Also, it helps to drink lots of water (not soda) - it thins out your fluids, giving you basically the same "cleaning" effect as douching without harming your immunity.

Some recommend you do not douche at all. If you must, only if there is odor, and with a mild vinegar and water solution. You should see a doc if there is odor and itch anyway. Contrary to popular belief, douching is not effective birth control...it actually forces sperm higher up due to the pressure.

A woman should not douche. You have a natural cleaning system in your body. If you douche it may irritate you.

Once a month is fine but if you feel its not enough you can take 2 caps of vinegar and put it in your bath its just like using a douche but much safer.
