some T.V. shows say .....for example: 9/8central.......what does that mean does it mean 9:00 or 8:00?...i live in ohio if it helps

it is referring to time zones.
9 in the easter time zone, 8 in the central time zone.
Since ohio is in the eastern time zone, you only care about the first one.

It means 9 o'clock EASTERN time zone and 8 o'clock CENTRAL time. They just use the "shorthand" version because most people understand what they mean.
So when you are watching a show on TV at 9:00 p.m. in Ohio, in Oklahoma they are watching the same show at the same moment, but it came on at 8:00 p.m. since Ohio is Eastern Time and Oklahoma is in Central Time zone.

The earth rotates. As it turns, it appears as if the sun or moon is moving, but it is really the earth moving. Times are different all around the world. When it is daytime on this side of the world, it is nighttime on the other side. -Also, the only stupid question is the one not asked. It is good that you asked this question, because this is something that you actually need to know and understand, not just the answers to homework like some of these other peoples' questions.
