Tick bites are an occupational hazard for me. Aside from the pain of Lyme's disease or Rocky mountain spotted fever, these little things itch like hell and take forever to heal. Any idea on how to make them stop itching and heal faster?

There is no way to know for sure if the tick transmitted a disease to you. However, the likelihood is very small if the tick was attached for 4-6 hours or less. It often requires attachment of 6-10 hours or even as long as 24 hours or more to transmit disease. A small, reddened area around the attachment site of the tick is not unusual as the body responds to heal the wound site. Important signs of tick-related illnesses include a fever, cough, nausea, vomiting, joint pains, reddened eyes, swelling in his arms, legs or face, rash and/or a significant headache. If you develop any of these symptoms, you should consult with a doctor as soon as possible and be certain to let the doctor know that you had a tick bite. This will avoid a false diagnosis of the flu or another viral illness. Signs of illness from tick bites typically occur at least 2 days after a bite, but on average occur 7 days after the bite. It may be as long as 14 days after the bite in some cases. so looks like you are just healing a bit slower than usual but if u have any of the other symptoms then you should probably go to the doc. if you dont have any other symptoms then try applying arnica cream (its really good for stuff like this!) as this will help you heal faster and get rid of any bruising/redness etc

None of the above mentioned stuff works. I've had tick bites that last for two months. This is a very serious question not to be taken lightly. I live in an area where it is a summer hazard. The little buggers itch like crazy. Has anyone ever known anything that really makes it heal faster and stop the itching?

You can stop the itching with a general anti-histamine. You can buy this from pharmacies in a tablet form which you take in advance of getting bitten or as a cream which you apply directly to the affected area.

There's not a great deal you can do to speed up the healing but the use of an anti-histamine means you will have a much smaller reaction and the healing time will be quicker anyway. Just keep the affected areas clean and avoid scratching.

If it's a major problem then use both the cream and tablets. This is what I do when in mosquito infested areas and find it works very well.
