Apparently, there have always been gas wars. One trick was to try to undercut prices. Back when gas was 35 cents a gallon (YES, I REMEMBER THOSE DAYS-what of it?), a tenth of a cent added up. They've never given up the practice. Just be glad that every industry didn't try that, I have a hard enough time figuring the total with sales tax without trying to figure out tenths of a penny. :-}

The 9/10 is not the penny-it is the measurement of the gas...So what it means is that the listed price on the pump is only for 9/10 of a gallon...

2.99 or 2.98 9/10 which one catches your eye.
