Unfortunately you can't stop anyone sending you e-mails. Its called spam.
Have 3 seperate e-mail addresses. The first is the one your ISP gives you when you get your internet connection. Treat this one like an ex-directory phone number and never give it out. Use it to sign up for free web mail, like Yahoo.
Have one private Yahoo address which you only give out to family and freinds. Even so, eventually this address will start to get spam, because some of your freinds pc's will become infected by trojans which try to steal e-mail addresses! When that happens, ditch this address and switch to a new one.
Your third address is for open publication and will last about 3 months after you publish the address anywhere, such as e-bay or anywhere else on the net. Again, just delete it and replace it when the spam gets too much.
As a tip, never use your name as your web address for your disposable addresses. Use a nickname.
Have your e-mail options set to plain text only, not html. Never open an e-mail if you don't recognise the sender. Some e-mails sontain a piece of java that 'phones home' when the e-mail is opened, thats how spammers discover that an address is real.
It annoying having to do this, but as long as there are people who abuse the system you just have to be smarter and stay one step ahead.

Just keep marking them as spam, however some of mine got so bad, like 100+per day that I just cancelled the email address and got a new one.
The problem is these spamers seem to be getting more sophisticated all the time,I actually received an email two days ago from my own email address,I would firstly like to find out how they are able to do this and if they are actually sending emails to other people from my email address or do they in fact have access to my emails.
A lot of questions to answer on this subject, perhaps someone from Yahoo could give us some help and advice on this .
Thanks for asking the question, perhaps you have opened the proverbial can of worms !

Don't let it bug you, as long as they go directly into you bulk mail, just click "empty". It will dump all of it at the same time, if it's 1 to 500+. Don't open any, then whoever sends them will know that you address is valid and you will get more.

You cant. The bulk folder is the same as your spam folder.

Updates to Outlook improve the rules and puts any e-mails it thinks is spam into the bulk folder.

If you are using Outlook yu can set it up to only allow emails from a "safe list". So you add all of the email addresses you want to receive email from, then it will trash the rest.

I get tons of them too. No idea how they got my address. I just empty my bulk folder periodically. It doesn't effect your email quota, so don't worry about it.

the one thing that bulk emails have in common is that they are not directly addressed to you.

I have a procmail (mail processing software) that runs on my ISP's server. I just delete anything that isn't addressed to me in the "To: " or "Cc" or "Bcc" header.

You didn't say what kind of ISP you have. is it yahoo? that is easy to figure out, Yahoo does all that stuff for you.

Just get a new email address. And don't fill out any forms giving it out. All lists are sold.

The best way to get rid of them is not to respond to them. Unfortunately, if your name is on a list anywhere on the internet, you are going to get SPAM (Stupid Persons Advertisement Mail).
