I am sorry for her death, but the kind of beauty contest she took part in wasn't right for me. Little child in (sexy) adult style clothes, heavy adult style make-up (lipstick, mascara ... even in adult beauty contests, they use less than that ...).A lot of people consider it's wrong. Her mom said the wrong idea came from the viewers (not from the child). But for me it's from the people that performed and (parents) took part in the contest. And maybe it's one of the reasons brought her to death - enchants child molestative people ... What is your opinion, especially you parents of children?

I agree with R F, and sorry to coment on the death mother, but you see how meaningless such kind "beauty" - see how intelligent a "beauty queen" (the mother) was. She put daughter in that wrong thing, then act "unintelligent" when received the ransom note, lead poor little girl to painful and disgusting death ... A lot of other kids were kidnaped and were saved for their parents had more brain than money or physical beauty. Then the murder would be capture one way or another ...

i think its wrong for parents to try to make their children look older then what they are. she was a pretty little girl anyway, didnt need all the makeup and clothes. im not in favour of beauty pageant's at such a young age. let kids be kids.

I personally don't like those beauty contests because it makes other girls want the wrong things or think that they are ugly. Especially beauty contests for a young child. I saw a picture of the little girl. To be honest, she looked like an adult in a tiny body. I'm deeply sorry for her death, but, I agree, these beauty contests may have stirred up these child molesters. I strongly urge parents to be careful about making these kind of decisions.

I agree those beauty contests are horrible. Talk about a way to rune a child's self esteem. What a way to set up a girl for anorxia and poor self image. GEssh one mom puts fake teeth in her daughter mouth.

The sexy little girl thing just encourages sicko sex preditors to get more obcessed. How any mother who can set her daughter up like that is beyond me. It is the mothers who are sick too. They live vicariously through their daughters. If enough of this stuff happens maybe someday these parades of sexual children will be outlawed.

Those pageants are disgusting. It is difficult enough to have a normal childhood these days. I happened to be attending a conference at the same center where one of the pageants was happening. I watched two mothers shaking young girls, 3-4 years of age, by their shoulders and yelling at them to walk correctly. Needless to say many of those at my conference had "words" with the pageant moms. I cannot say some of the things that were said back. We made sure that our next conference would not be co-existing with a pageant. I feel sorry for any young child whose parents have to live their own childhood again, throught eh life of a child. It gives out wrong signals. We wondered how many pedophiles were wandering through the pageant area.

I don't agree with them. I think all the make up and clothes is way too much. My 4 yr old was in a dance recitial and had to wear all the make up. The teacher said it was so you could see their faces on the stage... I didn't like my baby looking like she was16. ... I don't agree with it. Little girls are beautiful with out all the hair do and make up. I also think it also teaches them to be superficial at a young age. .... I use to baby sit a little beauty queen and she was the biggest pain I had ever had to deal with. I am not saying that all girls are effected this way, but she sure put a bad taste in my mouth for it.

Putting the little girls in the spot light could make them a target for someone's sick obsession, I hadn't thought of it from that point of view.

I say keep them sweet and simple as long as possible because they already want to grow up way too fast.

I would agree. It's waaay too much to be putting on a 6 yrs. old. Her mother could have waited until she was a teenager. Besides, it's not like her beauty will fade away or anything. A 6 yrs. old beauty is too vulnerable to molesters. She doesn't have the skills/knowledge to handle these kinds of situation. I mean she's a beauty, but not a genius right?

That child wore more makeup in her short little life than I've worn in my 30+ years on this planet. It wasn't tasteful, either. Little girls are supposed to be little girls...they're supposed to play with Barbies and have tea parties and play at the park, etc., NOT be dressed up like a hooker and paraded in front of everyone and his brother. Her mother should be ashamed of what she did to her daughter. As we can see from Patsy Ramsey's death, what goes around comes around.

People who do this to thier kids need to STOP and let them be kids and have a normal life. If they want to model that's fine...they can do it on their own when they're 18.

I think that if the child is happy with it, then yes, but not THAT young probably 10 years old or something like that. I dont think that Jon Bennet really enjoyed it, she just looked at it as a way of life.

They recently found out the doosh bag who killed her and he pleaded guilty. He said he drugged her and had se x with her and the death was an accident. I know it wasnt an accident though.

As a father of two and a childhood survivor of sexual abuse by a priest, your kids need to be protected always. You are the one in charge of their safety. Teach them to say no and not to be afraid to tell you if they have been touched inappropriately by anyone. Teach them that it is not their fault and that secrets should not come between you. This is how we get rid of pedophiles. Child beauty contests should be banned. They attract the freaks.

Yeah, it seems wrong to me. It's like they're trying to change little girls into Barbie doll types. Watch the new movie Little Miss Sunshine and notice the backstage goings-on at the pageant. It's a real eye-opener.
