Multiply the numerator and denominator in the expression 1/a by 2/5.
(1 x 2/5)/(5/2 x 2/5)
You can see that the numerator will be 2/5 and the denominator cancels out, i.e., 5/2 x 2/5 = 1.
The answer is then (2/5)/1 = 2/5

while dividing via fractions you may practice the 2nd fraction the different way up (turn it on its head) and then multiply the two at the same time. a million/a would be represented via a million/a million ÷ 5/2 the respond being a million/a million x 2/5 = 2/5. what isn't regularly common is why we turn the 2nd fraction on its head and multiply: think of of the simplest quantity to divide via - the quantity a million, considering that something divided via a million is the unique fee. with the aim to make the denominator (backside fraction) equivalent one we multiply it via its inverse; hence you may multiply a via 2/5. yet you may keep in mind that, as with equivalent fractions, you may do a similar ingredient to the numerator besides via fact the denominator, subsequently we turn the 2nd fraction the different way up and multiply. (a million/a million x 2/5) / (5/2 x 2/5) = (a million/a million x 2/5) / a million = 2/5

1/a = 2/5
because 1/a is the reciprocal of a... if a is a fraction you just swap the numerator and denomenator around
if a = 4... 1/a = 1/4 (because 4 = 4/1)

it is this i am sure you should first do this 5/2 = 2.5 then divide 1 to 2.5 = 1 / 2.5 = 0.4:
1/(5/2) = 0.4
