They shouldn't stay together because they will become frustrated and miserable it will start having a negative effect on their kids. Besides i'm sure the kids don't want to see their parents living an unhappy life. Whatever they do they should do soon so that the kids can adjust to the life and start moving on.

If the kids are almost 18, you might be able to tough it out. If you are constantly fighting, or there is an air of depression in the house, is that doing the kids any good? No matter what, go to marriage counseilng, even if you don't want to get back together.

I do not think that two people should stay together for the sake of their child(ren) because eventually it will fail. One day one of the parties will give up and just leave and just be so tired of things. I don't think people should stay together.

A million times no! Children suffer greatly when their parents don't get along or hate each other. It is a fallacy to stay together for the kids--most of them want their parents to split so there can be peace.

No way. It is not doing the kids a favor.
They pick up on the problems.
