It means that you can unsend it. Of course, it doesn't mean that the other party has not yet read the message, but if they haven't, the email program will delete it from their inbox.

with MS outlook ( and probably others too), if you send a message but change your mind & bring the message back, so it never gets sent...you can recall it. This only works if the person has not opened it yet. Also, in business, when an e-mail coem in from another server, it is often not possible to recall messages. So...be careful what you send

Once you have already sent out an email, AND recipient has not read it yet, you can recall that message. Or in other words, get that message back.
If you sent a message and didn't mean to send it, you can recall it as long as the recipient hasn't read it.

If you have had a message that saya message recalled - it means that someone sent you an e-mail but recalled it before you had time to open it.

I recall messages if I had to add anything to the e-mail or if I sent it to the wrong person.

Someone is attempting to retrieve & delete a message they sent before you opened it. It is usually to correct errors and is mainly only functional with Microsoft Office Outlook.

It means you are taking it back, you can only use it if they haven't opened it
