please do not answer this if you have never tried it! i am asking because marijuana is not a drug, it is a plant. it grows just like every other plant, and when dried and smoked it causes very pleasent effects. it is not intoxicating (in the sense that alcohol is) and can be used as an herbal relaxant, inspiration, mood elevator, etc. there is no reason for it to be illegal- if it was legalized....any "crime" attributed to it would dissappear, because people would be able to grow it and enjoy it without the pressure of illegality. so, legal?

It should be legal. It's far less damaging than alcohol or cigarettes, which are both legal.

YES.

Keeping in mind, that there would be way more government control over it.

Please note cigerettes and alcohol.

Without it being legalized: its easier for a fifteen year old to hang out with his/her friends and smoke a doobie than it is to get drunk. (a case of beer has higher street value in some small towns than marijuana does).

It would probably still be expensive maybe more (pretty packing though), and there could be extraordinary taxes on it... which could go right back into our police force and health care.

I say legalize it, our government should make some profit off these stoned weed heads.

Oh, and that fun stuff you mentioned about it being used as a herbal relaxant, inspiration, mood elevator - Are you stoned right now?

It sounds like your elevator doesn't quite go all the way to the top.

But that's a mite better than some stoned wastelands who's elevators go radically up and DOWN and UP and down. It's unpredictable. No matter how much luck you've had till now.

The flipside is for some it's a little too relaxing, and inspiration? Yeah for couch potatoes, and bums!

It has seven times more toxins than cigerettes and it's just as addictive. And it stinks. (really bad... can you say skunk weed?).

The crime wouldn't disappear, it would just become a crying shame. Fool.

But on the up side: Frito Lays and Taco Bell stock would go up wouldn't it?

All that, yes, I say, like, legalize it - man!

I do think that it should be legal, I have smoked it.. However not in years, I Do think that it has great things we can use it for other than just what some would say "get high". The hemp from it alone is awsome the things that are made with it, and how they stay forever with you. Like clothes and things. Yes it is ok to smoke it I think, it does lead to any harder drugs, and it does keep some more focused and yes it is a great relaxer, and there are so many more thing good with it. The Goverment will never let it be legal, but they can grow it and use it for things and then we will buy, they will always have the upper hand. But this anwers your question, yes it should be legal.

No.
There is a reason for it to be illegal. People are ignorant. People drive cars and operate heavy machiney. Cars and heavy machinery kill people.
Can you imagine if it was legalized, how many people would get on the roads under the influence? Can you imagine how many deaths would occur from drivers who thought they were playing an arcade game instead of risking other peoples lives?
There are many reasons for it to be illegal. A lot can happen if the "plant" is abused like that.
It is intoxicating in the sense that alcohol is. It causes impaired judgement and loss of senses. it may not be intoxicating to the body long term but it impairs a lot of what our bodies need short term.
No. Simply put it would cause too many deaths if people were allowed to smoke pot and drive, among other things.

Personaly I would have to say that it should be legal, since it is almost "tolerated" in certain cases (for medicinal use, for example).

However, alot of organised crime and their affiliations to law enforcement agencies profit incredibly from the black market trade of illegal drug sales. If the government were to legalise canabis it would put alot of "pushers" and re-sellers out of a job, as well as create alot of new types of product quality.

Basically, canabis would probably be available as regular or light flavours, but it would also be regulized, or standerised for general consumption.

Basically it's like the prohibition era of the early 20th century. Alcohol was finally legalised, so drugs "could" also follow the same route, but to great expense to the black-market operations.

It should not be legal because it is a mood altering drug and the affects on the body aren't always good for every person using it. I agree it is good for some uses but its still a drug.

Almost all drugs start out as plants.

Cocaine, Alcohol,Etc.

I say NO. The reason being if pot were legal the government would regulate it and try to make money off it. The price would go up. Only a certain amount would be available at certain times. As it is, I have to show my driver's license and sign to even get sinus medicine so how would pot be regulated? It is ridiculous.

I don't smoke marijuana, but I strongly believe that it should be a legal and taxed business. It has proven medical benefits and the government could gain revenue from it's production and legalization. Clearly, they are losing the 'war' on marijuana anyways.

The government doesn't want to make it legal be cause then they wouldn't be able to control it as much. Right now....it is one of our country's biggest import....and its controlled by our government.
I agree with you....but I think right now...the only way to be able to grow it legally is to move to California....get a grow license from a doctor...then you can grow a specific amount for personal use (medical reason of course). We have a friend that did this.

Lots of people think it should be and that it is no more impairing than alcohol. Many think it is less addictive than alcohol. But that is a debate that will not change any time soon. I see you point, and that is similar to what happened during prohibition and the eventual legality of alcohol. We will see.

There are hundreds of "plants" that cause adverse effects to the body including seizures, hallucinations, euphoria, depression, anxiety, and even death. If you want to group all of these into your "marijuana is just a plant" argument then we can have a discussion.

Otherwise stop looking for someone to tell you it's ok to smoke pot.

I always love get "thumb downs" just because I disagree with the asker! Especially when the question is about pot.

If you really wanted a quantitative answer don't justify your answers with "do not answer this if you have never tried it!"
You are basically saying, "Don't answer if you don't agree with me!"
