What do you look for in a Master/Mistress?

I'm a switch, so I feel that I'm at least half-way qualified to give an answer. :-)

I think that a good Master/Mistress is one that realises that the relationship that they are in with a submissive is not supposed to be one-sided. Submissives have needs as well. Any submissive that says that they will do anything that a Master/Mistress tells them is either inexperienced or not really a submissive at all but a wannabe.

A good Master/Mistress will treat their property (in the case of slaves) as a cherished heirloom, as a fragile doll, and not a doormat. There has to be a symbiosis, otherwise it's just abuse, the real kind. This doesn't mean that they allow the submissive to get everything that they want, but simply realise that they don't get everything they want either. This is simply the nature of relationships, both D/s and vanilla.

That's what I would look for in a Dominant, and that's what I hope that I would be if I were someone's Dominant. Hope that answers your question.
