She doesnt know what she's talking about. This has nothing to do with termination. You did not resign. The employer or HR department writes the termination letter and an employee the resignation letter, so clearly the shift manager is a bit on the slow side.

OK let me get this correct your "management"? You must be if your writing a termination letter! How did you make to management and not know this? 1st thing you need to do is find termination letters written in past by others. 2nd Check with HR to make sure that the firing and your wording on said letter meets with Company policy and is legal! 3rd Find out if a termination letter is even needed! After all that is done I suggest you find "your" boss and get the needed training your clearly missing.
Members of management who are poorly trained can cause legal issues within company and that's not productive to anyone!

I would say that the person's skills do not match what the company needs. Therefore, we do not have any choice but to terminate their employment. Have a note ready to give them stating their good qualities for their interviews.

I usually just terminate them face to face. Then I have all of the necessary Human Resources forms with me. A letter....just end it.
