I currently have XP Home and will be upgrading to XP Pro. I got myself a new motherboard and processor today but I am not sure which I should install first...

Hardware or software?

I would say, install all the needed drivers for your Mobo and CPU first, before you install XP Pro.

Hardware: changing the processor and motherboard might mean you need to re-activate, so you'd have to activate twice if you installed the SW first. Ideally, you'd re-format and do a fresh install of XP, but that takes more time. Cheers

Install the hardware first, then upgrade Windows. If you install Windows first then upgrade the hardware, Windows will probably not boot.

Your brilliant guess is to open the computer and get rid of all unnecessary hardware like soundcards, extra drives (exceptthe ones you surely favor to position in living house windows) and the different extra playing cards mutually with community playing cards or modems. attempt installation back and observe if it keeps any extra. If it completes, you could attempt including the playing cards back in a unmarried at a time and attempt powering up the computer and observe if windopws recognizes them or has any topics getting them to artwork. good success!

Can't do much with out the hardware so do those first then do the software. Before you go online make sure you protect it with a anti-virus.
