I'm purchasing a gas cooktop. I'm trying to choose between a Jen-Air tempered glass cooktop for $450 and a brushed chrome Magic Chef cooktop for $320. What would you recommend?

I would go the chrome route for durability; glass is more prone to scratching, tempered or not, and will look dull after only a few years. I wouldn't cook on anything but a gas stove. It's far superior to electric burners.

The Jen-Air glass cooktop is a good deal (good quality brand). I'd go for that

they both are cool, but the brushed crome will give an awesome industrail look to your kitchen, That really seems to be whats in, so if you like that look I would go with that but the Tempered glass would be easier to clean, so it is a hard decision, looks or ease of keep up. I personnally have a stainless steel cook top range and love it.

The tempered glass would be much easier to clean as the crud will get into the brushed chrome top
