It's the English system -- miles, yards, feet, inches -- versus the Napoleonic metric system -- kilometers, meters, centimeters. The metric system is better, but Americans are more accustomed to the English system and are reluctant to change over.

When converting between inches and centimeters, use 1 in = 2.54 cm. When converting between meters and feet, use 1 m = 39.37 inches. When converting between miles and kilometers, use 1 mi = 1.61 km or 1 km = 0.62 mi. Between miles and kilometers, the ratios 5/8 or 8/5 are pretty good.

For your question, to convert 1.93 m to feet and inches, use 39.37 in/m x 1.93 m = 75.98 inches. Since there are 12 inches in a foot, this person is 6 feet, 4 inches tall.

(6 ft x 12 in/ft + 4 in = 72 + 4 = 76 inches)

[Edit: Kryzczystof (?) got it right ... you want feet and inches; and those who gave answers in decimal feet, e.g., 6.33 feet, got it wrong IMO, notwithstanding that you asked for the answer in feet.]

You've got your correct answer already. However, I'd like to add one more because the commentary is as important as the actual answer.

*sigh* if you can't ask questions here, where can you ask them? So sad because the best way to learn is by asking for help.

Go to www.google.com and just type in "Convert 1.93 meters to feet". You will get back 6.332021 feet per the following URL.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=convert+1.93+meters+to+feet

(Next you might want to try converting 6.332021 feet into inches so you have the answer in more commonly used units.)

I must be stupid then cause i didnt know the answer. geesh i dont know simple math *sigh*

2.54cm= 1inch
12 in= 1 foot
1 meter=3 feet
1 foot = 12 in

93 cen/ 2.54 cen= 36.614 in
1 meter= 3 feet= 36 inches
36.61 + 36 inches = 72.1 inches
72.1 inches / 12 in (12 in= foot)=6.5

he is 6'5 ish

Multiply 1.93 meters by 3.3 and you'll get 6.369 feet. Convert 0.369 to inches by multiplying it by 12 such that the height is 6'4".

2.54cm = 1inch

193/2.54 = 76"

12" = 1 foot
76/12 = 6" and a remainder of 4 inches not .33333.
