i mean these people are supposed to be working for the voters of the states they live in not only returning to the state when it's campaign time.what do you think?

also the problem of participating could be solved in part by viedo confrencing that way they could vote and attend meatings and still have time to be where they belong

This would be a good idea. The less time they spend in Washington the less time they have to screw up the government more than it already is.

Just being in their home district doesn't mean they're actually interacting with constituents, just like being in DC doesn't mean they're working on legislation and oversight of the administration.

I'd say members of congress should spend most of their time in Washington, and spend less than a quarter of their time in their districts. They should make more use of the Internet for interaction with constituents - that will increase the number of people who interact with elected officials.

Well, that makes it almost impossible to conduct business in Congress, since most activities require being in Washington DC with the rest of Congress.

But good idea in principle.
