The unfinished pyramid with the all-seeing eye above it is commonly said to be a Masonic symbol, but actually it was used by many groups of the time. The eye represents the all-seeing eye of God, and the unfinished pyramid represents the fact that the work of our country never finished. I believe the pyramid has 13 levels, after the 13 colonies, and the Roman numerals are 1776, the year the Declaration of Independence was signed.

Notice the face of the pyramid is lighted and the western side is dark. This country was just beginning. We had not yet explored the western part of the country, nor decided what we could do for western civilization. The pyramid is uncapped, signifying we weren't even close to being finished. Inside the capstone there is an all-seeing eye: the ancient symbol for divinity.
In the left-hand circle is a Pyramid; the face is lighted and the western side is dark: The country was just beginning and the western frontier had not yet been explored. The Pyramid is uncapped to signify that we are not finished.

Just in case anyone forgot which section they got their Dan Brown book in, let me remind you. FICTION!!! It really amazes me what people will believe when they read it in an interesting story line. And if there are 13 masonic symbols on the dollar bill then name them. The design for the Seal was completed with no help from a mason.
