He'll be fine.

My sister had a two year old flower girl and a three year old ring bearer in her wedding both did great.

As long as they have a place to sit during the ceremony its surprising how well little ones can do given the chance. (key from one mom to another: don't let him know how anxious you are. Make him believe you KNOW he can do it and he will. period).

During the service tips:

Pack a small ziploc bag of teddy grahams (not messy, quiet, and very little sugar for the calm factor), take a small paper and pencil, buy him a new picture book and don't show it to him until he sits down on the bench, and quietly distract him on the bench if he can't take the lengthy part of the ceremony. ** Practice the 'church whisper' **.

Dry runs at church between now and then would be a really good idea too. (don't cop out and take him to the child care).

Videos:
(Arthur has a video with DW being flower girl can't remember what's it called).

Books:

Laura Godwin has a ryhming book called the Ring Bearer

I can't take you anywhere! by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Wedding Bells for Rotten Ralph by Jack Gantos (sp?)

Another one to check out might be: Berenstain Bears I think they have a story that would relate.

Any of these books would be perfect to show him how important it is to be 'good' at a wedding.

Do a quick search at your library they will definitely have materials for you.

You two are going to have so much fun! You're gonna bust a gut you'll be so proud.

Have fun!
Kim

All of the movies I have seen have the children in the wedding party running around, climbing under the brides dress, picking noses because that is funnier/cuter/more believable than a well mannered child.

Barring pharmaceutical intervention, there is no such thing as a calm 3 year old ring bearer. As long as he is not a total brat then whatever he does will be fun stories for the bride and groom to tell for years to follow. That is why you have children in the wedding party.

no, but cute joke: A little boy was asked to be the ring bearer at a family wedding. The whole way down the isle he would go: step step grrrrrrrr, step step grrrrrr, step step grrrrrrrrr, as everyone laughed he got angry and hurt, and his dad asked why he was walking down the isle like that, The little boy said "but I thought I was the ring BEAR"

The rind bearer is a good thing. Just let the kid be it and the wedding helpers will tell him what to do

guy, you ought to no longer pay me adequate to have 2 3-3 hundred and sixty 5 days-olds in my wedding ceremony. lovable, confident, yet tooooooo unpredictable. I even have 2 little boys, and at that age, i might do some thing like what you're doing with the flower female (crayons, gold fish, coloring e book, stickers, and bubbles are huge-unfold for boys, too, in basic terms change from princess stuff to automobiles stuff or another "boy" topic).

let the child be himself/herself. if anything you can walk along side with him. or have your husband sit in a couple of rows of pews and guide him along his way and then have you waiting for him at the alter.
