Both, riding and caring for horses is always fun and relaxing for me; but with all of the work that comes with the territory it gives a pretty good work out. This is especially true when riding a young horse who doesn't quite get what leg pressure is all about.

I ride my horses for fun. With that fun, I do get a work out depending on which one of my horses I am riding. If I am riding my youngest, I get more of a work out in my arms and legs. If I am riding my mare, I only get a work out if we are doing some hard core riding like barrels etc. My oldest I get a work out with legs since he needs more leg pressure when I ask him to jog, lope (old fart).

I always ride for fun! but I ALWAYS end up getting a workout anyway! even not riding your horse but taking care of it gives you another workout in itself! I have to haul in to the place where I take lessons and just getting my stuff in the trailer and getting my horse and grooming him and all that good stuff I'm ready to be done for the day! but then I still have to ride! the whole having horses is a workout!!!

I love riding both for the fun of it and the work out. I never set out to exercise, but I ride a bit of a youngster so sweating is always inevitable. I hate those people who say horseback riding isn't a sport because all you do is sit there. I usually invite them to my competitions or to come riding and let me tell you... they change their tunes dramatically the next morning when they can barely move their legs to get out of bed. I love all kinds of riding rather I'm competing in a relaxed equitation or pleasure class, running helter skelter to finish a jumping course in optimum time, or just out bumming around bareback on the trails. As long as I get to spend time around my horses I love it.

I compete with my horses plus I get a work out. Don't believe people when they say u can't lose weight from riding one. You have to do a lot. Plus the people that say that probably don['t know how to ride.

I do it for both. I love my horses like they are my kids so I really do it out of pleasure. But it is a great workout.

I ride for fun, but by the time I groom and saddle and feed and muck, etc. I get a workout.
