download the latest update. if you already are up to date, then you might want to look into another kind of software. I've come across this quite often and usually it is because the software I was using got cut off pretty much by legality issues and most of the users have moved on. also, you could be searching for songs that not a lot of people. the more users that have your song, the easier and faster it will be to get it because even a couple of those users disconnect, you can continue getting the file from the other users. if only a few users have it, then you have to wait until they are online which is why it might be pending.

Use another P2P client.. like limewire or frostwire (working with limewire engine but 100% opensource)...
