When my little boy was just 6 months old, his biological father gave him shaken baby syndrome. He shook him so hard that he broke his ribs. He went into seizures and his heart stopped. He was Life lined to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. By the time I got there my son was on life support in a coma. They asked me if I wanted to take him off the machines and I said no. Today he is 9 years old. He cannot walk, crawl, talk, sit up, stand. He has a feeding tube in his stomach. He is unable to take anything by mouth. Not even get his mouth wet. He has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and Severe brain damage. The father did not spend one day in jail. Not even a conviction.

Meeting my first love. We broke up over two years ago and now each have new long-term relationships. He was the most influential because he allowed me to open up to someone and show my love. He taught me about relationships and has been a good source of advice since then.

Having my husband falsely accused of CSC with a minor. It sure gets your priorities straight, and lets you know who your true friends are and who you can trust.
After everything was dropped, I have a greater appreciation for my friends and family, and less for the Children's Protective Services Dept.

Learning how to shave my butt crack. Seriously, I would have to say Karma. Within the last 10 years I have done alot for people and its starting to come back around. I try my best, day to day, to be the best person as possible.

Coming out to myself. People think of coming out as the process by which someone announces to the world that they're gay, but there's a long internal process that proceeds that. It put a lot of things into perspective.

Definately having my first son and being single at the time. It changed me forever and I am stronger and more independant than I ever would have been. He gave me a purpose and strength to acheive anything.

Having my son. I had no idea that being a mother would change me the way it did. It's funny one day I was thinking all about me and focused totally on myself, and then I had him and all I could think about was him, and he's all I ever think about now :-)

You mean, *besides* eating those bad oysters in 1970...?
It would have to be deciding to emigrate to Japan and work for a Japanese company for ten years.
