The truth does not always set you free. But it's a good start.

The problem is, there isn't always one objective truth that everyone agrees on. Nor does there need to be. Truth is subjective, which Plato also recognized.

What we need is not necessarily truth, but informed decision-making. Whether in a pure democracy, or a democratic republic, it is the people who have the power to choose their leaders and collectively to make decisions.

The problem is not that people don't know the truth. The problem is that too many people don't take the time to think for themselves, to research, to learn, and to understand the issues before making their decisions. Too many people don't take the time to figure out what they believe, and instead just repeat what others have told them.

Which means that the decisions are not being made by the people. The decisions are being made by those who convince the people of what to believe. And to fix that, people need to start thinking for themselves and making their decisions about what is best for everyone in the long term. Not just following the current powers-that-be because they don't know any better.

I didn't exactly understand what you're talking about, but if you want to know the truth you should read about Islam deeply and carefully and I guarantee you to find what you're looking for.
