my tv has an 's' cable jack and my computer is fairly new but i dont see an 's' cable jack. can i hook it up w/o buying a video card and what kind of quality can i expect?

my graphics card is an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 and my t.v. has an S cable jack.

If both your TV and computer have an "s-video" jack, then just plug an S-video cable into each jack. Then on your TV change the settings to tune into the S-video input. On your comptuer you may need to go into the Control Panel > Display Settings and configure it to display on 2 monitors (though one is a TV screen.)

The picture quality is great for watching movies, but text will appear way too fuzzy. TVs do not make good monitors.

I can't think of any way of accomplishing what you're trying to do without buying a display card with the necessary output jack.

Anyway, you won't be very satisfied with the performance. NTSA standard television picture has considerably less resolution than a computer monitor. Even an old CGA monitor from the 1980s has higher resolution than a normal TV.
