Look under "event planning" or "catering" or "special events" in Yahoo Local or in your phone book.

Many of these companies have on-call workers (servers, banquet people, cooks...) who make a really decent part time wage and get gratuities as well. You can pick what hours you want to work, too.

You could call a hotel too. Most of them need on-call banquet people.

That is how a lot of people get started in the business. Just call them up. If you have trouble finding somewhere to start, call some event venues (historic buildings, museums, convention centers or even catering companies that do "off-premise" catering) or hotels (stick to 4 and 5 star ones if you want to enjoy yourself).

Best of luck to you! This is a great way to make extra money, and to get experience in the business. Hospitality rules!
