My boyfriend smokes, I don't. So we had to find ways of keeping the house smelling fresh. We have alot of those glade plugins around the house and it keeps the house smelling great. I've noticed that the more odors there are, the harder it is to keep the house smelling fresh. So since he smokes, we have to refill those plugins quite often. But do you know what else we found that works well. Oil lamps!!! You can purchase an oil lamp from those kiosks in shopping malls or from the store called "The body shop". The oil lamp costs about $15 and will last about forever, but you have to make sure you keep some oil. You can't use the oil lamp without oil. A bottle of oil might cost $3-$7. Again, I have strong odors in my house so I had to buy the most expensive oil. The body shop sells the most expensive ($7) but their's work the absolute best! If you don't have strong odors, go with the cheaper oils, or use glade plugins. We like them both but oils lamps are more effective.

I would suggest pouring baking soda in small containers and hiding them under the couches, in closets, etc. to absorb any smells. Bath and Body Works Wallflowers are really strong and smell for a while. They keep my house smelling good. I would also suggest Febreze. Use it once a day or more depending on odors.

Filll a small sauce pan with water in which you have added a few drops of vanilla, some cinnamon sticks and some orange or lemon rind. Bring to boil and simmer for a couple of hours. this will make your house smell wonderful and is chemical and aerosol free.

Spray perfume or air freshener onto your light fixtures. When you turn them on, they will add a nice scent to the room.
