First to get rid of the(now non existent) weapons of mass destruction that faulty intelligence claimed Saddam Hussein has stockpiled.
Second to Liberate the long suffering Iraq people from the tortures and tyranny of Saddam. Unfortunately the Locals now see Americacans worse that Saddam due to Abu Graib etc hence the organised resistance and insurgency which would eventually become a civil war.
Third to liberate the Iraqi oil and safeguard it for the Iraqi people. billions of Iraqi oil have since disappeared in huge tankers off to america.
Fourth to reassure israel that the country she feared most can be tamed. It's like mearkat handling it's bady a scorpion with its tail cut off.
fifth to assure right wing conservatives like awolthesailo that the president has exacted revenge from the Arab world for 9/11. Problem is to the rest of the world the worst President in US history declared mission accomplished when 28 months late thousands of american soilders have perished.

Funny how they slam liberals for their grammar though I can go through here and find more conservatives that way. But yeah, spellcheck.

Supposedly over WMDs. But that has yet to be proven. And yes, I know about the tons of munitions found, but the U.N. weapons inspectors said they knew about them and the WHITE HOUSE including PRESIDENT BUSH came out and said that those weren't the WMDs that we went to war for. (Had to capitalize those because most cons gloss over that.) I know about the supposed mobile weapons labs. But again, those were proven to be just what Iraq said they were. Mobile weather ballon stations. That was disproven by the British and the manufacturers of said vehicles.

Personally, we needed to do something about Iraq, but it could have waited until we finished what we started in Afghanistan. Where the Taliban now controls 1/3 of the country. Where they have resumed the number one spot as producers of opium.

It's not the dissent here at home that our enemies overseas are gleefully pointing at. It's our failure to finish what we started over there.

Because people were being tortured and killed for no reason. Lets not forget about his two sons and the torture chamber that Olympic athletes suffered through. And the men dragged off in the middle of the night and never seen again. Too many people sitting in their comfortable homes think it was an oil power play and criticize about the lack of weapons of mass destruction. What about the mass genocide's? He killed more people than Hitler. Yet it was wrong for him to be stopped?

Dear Cheeky Witch.

Your bad grammar identifies you as a liberal.

We invaded Iraq because liberals were against doing so as soon as they found out their constituents were against it (see John Kerry who voted for it before he voted against it).

Liberals have opposed every war since the beginning of time. If liberals had been successful in their anti-war policies, we would still have slavery in the South and be speaking either German or Japanese.

It has thererfore logically become a reflex action to invade if liberals are against it.

because we need to secure oil for next couple of years until we find an alternative source of energy.

basically to keep the current lifestyle we have now, we had to invade iraq. Or else oil prices would sky rocket in the next couple of years. And we might go into another depression. And getting rid of saddam hussein was a good extra.

who said freedom was free...

Because Democrats and Republicans "SAID" that Iraq had WMDs.

But, the circumstances that led to the invasion was brought about by the terrorist activities of Osamma Bin Laden, an Islamo-fascist-Nazi, and his lunatic following in the Muslim "world".

Oil? To bring peace and freedom to the Iraqi people? To find weapons of mass destruction? Because Sadam had links to Al Qeida? So that we'll feel safe in the west? Who the hell knows?

Hah.. precisely... it really is humorous how double commonplace the U. S. authorities is at present.. properly actual i do not favor to label US as yet in view that they have not act to end the violence. even with the undeniable fact that it really is humorous how briskly the decision to attack Iraq became yet how sluggish the decision to help Georgia is going. u . s . of america invaded a soverign state of Iraq to end a frontrunner. Russia invaded a soverign state of Georgia to maintain their human beings and now to kill extra Georgians? One appeared really ordinary and appeared to haven't any conseqences.. different look to scary and conseqential?
