Hi all, I am looking for Karaoke suggestions to suit me, I have a baritone voice and used to sing a lot in ameteur dramatics. Now I like to do Karaoke but I do not know a lot about modern music. To give you an idea of range about the highest I could go would be Billy Idols Honesty and I would not like to go as low as Johnny Cash. I want suggestions that are great ballads and maybe a few faster tunes to wow my audience. Any suggestions greatly recieved, I have a very powerful voice but so many of the modern tunes have fellas who must have been castrated at birth!!

Kind Regards
Kevin

I have an extended high-range baritone.
I play guitar, acoustic and electric, and would never lower myself to karaoke, which is the work of the Devil, and his idiot followers. Can't you learn a few chords? Playing the guitar you're singing to could help you appreciate the nuances of the music, the structure of the song, and I find it allows me to vary the volume and tempo for emphasis. People enjoy hearing me sing, and I manage getting down to a creditable Elvis, up to Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell and Texas. I often cover ladies songs in a higher key than they were sung in, and have a controlled falsetto for the Darren Hayes stuff.

I can't offer many suggestions on new songs, but I do have a couple of thoughts for you. Have you thought to try any of Robbie Williams' songs? Perhaps 'Angel' or 'Feel' if you're looking for ballad-y types. Deep Blue Something's 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' is always a nice one to hear done well. You might also want to try 'Words' by Westlife for another ballad-like song.

Maybe Van Morrison, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, or Bob Dylan. I think all of these would fit within your range or you could alter a few notes to make them work.
