Not "pro-Bush" non-questioners, but true, low-tax, low-spend, decentralized power-loving conservatives or federalists.

I agree with the low-tax, low-spend model.

I'm from New Hampshire. No sales tax, no income tax. Pretty much no social services. You get roads, fire departments, police, courts, and schools. The rest is up to you. Life free or die.

That being said, while I agree with much of the federalist platform, and am myself a constitutional literalist, I also believe in the 9th Amendment and would not limit constitutional rights to only those enumerated. I believe that society has changed, and that available technologies and medical options mean that laws cannot rely just on what the Founders thought to mention 220+ years ago.

For that reason, I also don't agree with most of conservative platform. I feel that freedom of belief and freedom of choice are essential unchallengeable rights, and the government should not be making any such personal decisions.

I also oppose the concept of imposing religious morality through enacted law. That, to me, is one of the core principles in the text of the constitution, and the current conservative movement seems very determined to enforce its religious beliefs by legislating morality. That I cannot support.

Why can't people understand that freedom of belief and freedom of choice are not minority values, even if the majority happens to disagree with the minority's choice?

Didn't the Great Depression put to rest economic/political conservatism? Why is it that you guys long for those bad old days?

Very mysterious! It must be historical amnesia.
